Michael Verdugo, a former Hollywood Police officer was fired for failing to disclose his role in a gay porn film, called “Rope Rituals” that he performed in well over a decade ago. As Upper House MP Reverend Dr. Gordon Moyes said to The Daily Telegraph, “There may be a legitimate use for these workshops but you wouldn’t need to spend four weeks on them at taxpayer expense.”

“You have people in the community who can’t get elective surgery.”

“I think the priorities are wrong. They are not only morally questionable but in terms of priorities they are out of whack with what the public needs.”

“This is being paid for by taxpayers to allow people to have sexual gratification.”

The article reports, Last year the NSW Health Department gave more than $8 million in grants to ACON, which promotes itself as Australia’s largest community-based gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) health and HIV/AIDS organisation.

The Department of Community Services provided a further $96,000 for their work.

State Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt endorsed ACON’s programs yesterday.

She said the NSW Government was “committed to reducing rates of sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS within our community”.

“The Government has a range of programs in place to address these issues and NSW has achieved stable rates of HIV at a time of increases nationally and in many comparable jurisdictions overseas,” she said.

The title of this program is “Cruising 101” and on the web page the description reads, Who is it for ? Men who use (or want to use) saunas or sex clubs.

That’s less than 1 percent of the agency’s 3,500 employees but 17 of the alleged offenders were senior SEC officers whose salaries ranged from $100,000 to $222,000 per year.
